Section 504 Self Evaluation and Transition Plan Offering

Meeting the Challenge, Inc. (MTC) is pleased to offer individualized consulting services to assist public housing authorities in completing their Section 504-required Self Evaluation and Transition Plan.

Self Evaluations –MTC collects appropriate materials from your housing authority relevant to the operation of the project. The materials collected allowed MTC to assess the administrative, program, and employment operations of the project against the Section 504 requirements. The Self Evaluation report produced includes summaries of the regulations, observations of the project’s current procedures, and recommendations for modifications to those procedures where appropriate. The report concludes with a summary that allows your housing authority to track its progress in completing recommendations.

Transition Plans – MTC conducts an on site facility accessibility survey to collect comprehensive information on the physical accessibility of your project. This survey is documented in a Transition Plan that describes accessibility requirements, our observations on site, and recommendations for barrier removal. A suggested timeline and record of accomplishing the recommendations is provided.

Federal Review – MTC has discussed the content of our Self Evaluation and Transition Plan reports with HUD and USDA personnel to ensure they satisfy Section 504 reporting requirements.

Cost – The cost for MTC to visit your site, collect the required information, and prepare your Self Evaluation and Transition Plan is between $1,200 and $1,500. This includes all travel, on-site survey, consultation, and report preparation. Costs depend on the complexity of your project, as well as travel times and distances. We try to keep your cost low by surveying several housing authority sites in a single trip.
